While I listen to people demanding an apology from Grayson however, I am trying to think of the last time there were widespread calls for any politician to apologize for lying. When apologies are demanded it seems they are demanded from political figures who speak their minds truthfully, but when I try to think of the last time a member of Congress was seriously pressured to apologize for lying I draw a blank.
Why are we not hearing demands for apologies from all the liars in Congress?
Why are we not hearing calls for apologies from all the members of Congress who shut our government down?
Why are people calling for an apology from Grayson while no one in Congress seems to be putting any serious pressure on Ted Cruz to apologize?
Can anyone seriously argue that Alan Grayson's words did more harm to our nation than Ted Cruz's actions?
I am sick to death of a Washington that demands apologies from truth tellers but virtually never demands apologies from liars.

Who is asking Grayson for an apology for telling the truth? Democrat, Republican?
It's hard to comment when you have no clue what something is about.

Thanks, there is no way he should apologize. SHE needs to apologize for her constant protection of Republicans each and every time a Dem gets the courage to tell the truth about him.
She represents everything that is wrong with the Dem Party. Grayson represents what the Dem Party should be and if HE were in a position of leadership there never would have been a Govt Shut Down. They wouldn't dare.
Go Grayson!

(75,480 posts)He owes those demanding it nothing. I don't think they would lift a finger for him, if he needed, if he did.
ReRe
(10,597 posts).... DINOs who like to think they are the leaders of the Democratic party???? What about an apology from those who denigrate truth-tellers like Rep Alan Grayson? What's going on here? A little tiff so we can somehow make a false equivalency with the Republican Party which is in it's death throws? For the past month, it felt like the Democratic Party was standing up for itself. Now here we are throwing barbs at one another. Oh yeah, who else, beside Debbie W,-S., is calling for Alan to apologize? Where are the "widespread" calls? Thanks.

Now what I want to know is why hasn't Cruz apologized for the stunt in front of the White House? Remember the one that started by tearing down barricades at the WWII Memorial? Speaking of that just exactly how many republicans have come with a public statement condemning or at least not supporting a rebel battle flag being waved at the White House?
If I just moved to the other side of Aloma Ave. Grayson would be my Congress Rep. But no, I get mica. Hopefully in Nov 2014 that will change and my district will get a new Rep. I know I will not forget this shutdown or this Congress. What a waste. I will be sure to remind everyone I see.

(12,041 posts)But it is perfectly fine for you to compare him to a well known racist, homophobic and misogynistic bigot like Rush Limbaugh?
It is the height of hypocrisy for you to attack him for comparing others to racists in the same breath as you compare him to a racist.
otohara
(24,135 posts)that keeps getting him into trouble - Yes?
Randi Rhodes lost her job once for calling Hillary Clinton a whore.
Bill Maher lost his job
Keith Olbermann lost his job
David Sirota lost his radio job
Do you see a pattern here that involves liberals and Democrats?
Grayson should do what he was elected to do - legislate.
I don't think he could get a job on radio after this - he's a loose cannon and no one would hire him.
Bjorn Against
(12,041 posts)Randi Rhodes is far too abrasive for me, I can't stand her. She is nothing like Grayson, when she turns off her own side nearly as much as she turns off the opposition she can't expect to last.
Bill Maher lost his job and then had it replaced with a new job that offers him far more freedom to say what he wants than he had on his old show.
Olbermann lost his job not because of anything he said, but because of his inability to work with others.
David Sirota worked for Clear Channel, the most right-wing media conglomerate in the nation. Clear Channel is even worse than FOX, it should be a badge of honor for Sirota to get fired by them.
otohara
(24,135 posts)Grayson is abrasive according to me.
Too bad he can't focus on the job he was elected to do - because they will toss him out again for wasting so much
time and energy on this kind of shit talk.
At least Randi is doing her job.

We don't need a Congressman who was fired for shooting off his mouth losing his job again next year. Those unaffiliated voters are wishy washy back/forth go with the flow. The right will run thousands of commercials with Grayson accusing all T-Party types of being just like the KKK. Doesn't take much to sway the unaffiliated voter and keep disgusted Dems at home.

(27,275 posts)Those assholes did not vote for him anyway. It is long past time for demowussies to stop being so scared and speak the obvious truth. Fight fire with fire. JustAnotherGen
(31,828 posts)That has two black children living in it. They ought to be ashamed of themselves and since their leaders Boehner and McConnell did not verbally rend and tear the Reb flag waver publicly and demand his name and the he apologize to the Obama Family - Grayson is calling them out.
Their silence means the Republican Party took ownership of the TEAs last week. The TEA Party IS the Republican Party until the Republucans force them to create a third party.

(13,390 posts)He also put president Obama in a bad spot. If he is asked he will have to disavow the comment.
There has been an influx of hate groups since Obama was elected (see SPLC). Giving tea party members an opportunity to deny racism in their ranks does more harm than good. The "some of my best friends are black" argument is ready. Along with an easy opportunity to garner sympathy from people whose understanding of race is only superficial.
Inflammatory language is counterproductive when we are trying to hold republicans accountable for showing extreme disrespect to the president.
