Flags are flying half mast at some places in NC today. Why?

Hubs said he's seen it at a few places (we went all over today...the mall, Best Buy, Michael's...), and neither of us can figure out what's going on. He and I aren't exactly out of touch with current events, but have we missed something critical??

I haven't been out today. So, I have no idea if they are in my hometown in NC or not.

2. I'm in Durham, and it was the US flag. He was in KY two days ago and said

the US flag was flying half mast over the Corvette museum as well. Weird.

There was no mention of this at all on Fox News Sunday. Saint Ronnie cut and ran after the attack. Ron Paul called him a paper tiger for doing so.
