This Last Shut Down And Debt Limit Fiasco Is Just A Prequel.

Cruz says he is going to do it all over again. McConnell says it will not happen. McConnell does not run the House. And Boehner does not appear to run it either. The baggers still are setting the agenda. Their response to the failure is that they were not extreme or combative enough. Polls and elections are completely meaningless to them. They keep saying they came to Washington to destroy government and they do mean it.

They see default as necessary to create an economic and Constitutional crisis. They are telegraphing that they will find a way to force default and impeach the President. Deep in their hearts they see elections as a mute point and even unnecessary.

Just look at what Texas is doing. They are working on cutting out thousands upon thousands of minorities, women and Democrats from the voting booth in 2014. And you can bet the voter ID laws will be applied unequally.

Besides that so many Americans are not even paying attention it is not even funny. Plus a corrupted media is the GOP's biggest asset. The media right now is the worst it has ever been since 1900.

1. I agree but with an exception

Another asset is the people that voted for them to destroy:
Affirmative Action
Civil liberties for all
Women's shaky but hard earned rights
Public Education
Social Justice

And dare I say - any of the "others" that have prospered in spite of them?

...their loved ones' remains at Dover? When American soldiers who paid the ultimate price for this democracy which Cruz so viscerally despises were callously denied that small expression of love and respect from grieving parents and a grateful country?

5. For all those who sneered at those of us who were wary of Sarah Palin

This is part and parcel of why. She actually tapped into that vein of the population that has elected the Tea Party.

Her first sortie into national elections post McCain was pretty damn successful as stunning number of candidates she supported won.

These folks are fanatical zealots. It was no mistake Sarah Palin was at the WWII memorial with Cruz. She may not be the biggest star of the movement any more but her brand of politics has taken root.

We're in for a bumpy ride. I fervently hope a bunch of these bums get thrown out in the next election. Cut this off asap before these flamethrowers really take out the economy, and a good chunk of our democracy.

I want Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, and Rand Paul to keep on talking. They are dividing the Republican Party. In fact, they're destroying it. They're doubling-down on stupid, and I have no interest in stopping them.

7. I Agree With You. Still Have A Few Reservations Because Of What I Am Seeing With Colorado Recalls
Sun Oct 20, 2013, 09:57 AM
Oct 2013

We lost two recalls with less than 30% of the populace voting. In both cases less than 33% of registered voters changed two Colorado Senate seats. Now we are in another recall fight and they plan 2 or 3 more. I talked to someone who worked those campaigns and based on our talk the election was rigged. Huge amounts of hidden money came in that the biased media in Colorado never covered. The meme was Bloomberg and outside groups out funded the recall by a large margin. Probably not true at all.

Plus mail in ballots were thrown out by a legal technicality by our tea bagger Secretary of State. The local media in southern Colorado is extremely right wing. The recall got hundreds of thousands of dollars in free ads 24/7. Polling places were skewed to where the recall had the most voters. Manitou Springs which is progressive had only one polling place. Voters were misdirected and polling hours were severely cut so only the recall voters could really vote easily.

We have 26 GOP or GOP dominated states now where the tea party backers are trying to rig the next election. When you can use all manner of tricks and legislative changes to cut turn out and suppress voting you get an advantage. Colorado has been gerrymandered as well. We have one rep district in the southern part of our own Senator's that a Democrat cannot win a seat. We have an extremist mega church that dominates that district and spreads its hate and vile all over the city. The rep they elected is a Colorado Bachman.

I do agree with what you say but when you can use recall laws like ours to change seats after a legal election by a minority of a minority while you rig the vote with almost no opposition you can control more than you think. Right now every Dem in Colorado is under threat of recall even at the city and county level because the threshold is really so low.

I talked to a lady I know who is running for a city council seat unapposed in local suburb. She is trying to get her vote up and is campaigning like she has an opponent because she said if her vote is low they will recall her instantly for ANY vote they don't like.

The recall is their new strategy to nullify every election they can nationwide. The NRA is sponsoring our recalls because they are telling politicians if you even mention the word "gun" in your policy we will recall you and not allow you to complete your term.

Until we crush the head of these snakes the madness will never end.

The media is starting to work on the GOP rebuilding process even now. I keep hoping they will kill themselves but I am not counting on it until the GOP is dead.

People ignore the power of the office of the Secretary of State. That said seat is held by a Republican obviously hurts Democrats in Colorado. Plus, your recall law needs to be abolished or modified. It's obviously being abused.

I hope the good people of Colorado address these problems soon.

9. We Won't Be Able To If Recallers Change Our Senate. Here Is Why.
Sun Oct 20, 2013, 10:19 AM

For one I believe the recall law must be changed by initiative. Once they get power they will change the recall to make it impossible to recall their people. They have found a weakness in the law. Evie has been a good legislator, but they are telling signers she is evil and corrupt and for all I know stealing money. We have heard at least one recaller telling a voter she is a corrupt politician and that is why they are recalling.

Just as the recall came Brian Moss who is a channel 4 hack did a hit piece on her during a hearing. His crew secretly filmed her sending a tweet not related to the subject. GOPPERS were also doing it. It was broadcast and she was publicly deliberately and premeditatedly heated. Channel 4 is an CBS station which is surprising.

We have a Colorado media that loves the GOP and is out to get Dems here. I did not notice it until recently. Forget the liberal bias there is none. The GOP can get away with serial murder out here and the media will not report it. They are that bad in Colorado now. And I am sick of them.

Folks unless we are willing to get mad and mean and confront them on their turf we will lose.

I cannot believe I spent a year in Vietnam so I could witness an outright theft of democracy of these bigots and sorry that is what they are.

I'm reminded of abortion in the US. The far right has spent decades eroding the right to an abortion. They are crazy. They are wrong. But they are determined to hammer away at that right til the end.

Fanatics are like that.

The Tea Party fanatics are willing to hammer away at this republic til its destroyed imho.

In The Capitol we have Ted Cruz, Mike Kelly and the Tea Party Reps. http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2013/10/32-republicans-who-caused-the-government-shutdown/280236/

We need to vote out the trouble makers in purple districts like Rep. Garret in NJ, and Rep. Amash in Michigan. The others in deep red districts should be described as extremists within the media. If they plan to shut down the government in February, they are extremists to me.

We know their major funders outside the Capitol include the Koch Brothers, FreedomWorks, Heritage and the Senate Conservative Group. The Funders need a bright light on them too.

I hope Boehner and McConnell will do their part to isolate and expose the domestic terrorists. These extremists remind me of the David Koresh group. They have Rafael "Ted" Cruz as the final prophet and they despise the government.
