Will Repubs unite before the next budget battle??

What does it portend if they stay as divided as today?

I think the Democrats need to convince establishment Republicans that they are stronger and better off if they oppose the Tea Party, even if it means working with Democrats in getting something done. The Tea Party wants them to believe that they are the majority in the Republican Party and if the establishment opposes them, then they will be primaried and defeated. That is not necessarily so.

If the Repubs join with the Tea Party, simply for the sake of uniting, what have they won? There is nothing to celebrate in being with the majority of your Party if the majority is crazy.

It is not up to us to tell the Republican Party what is best for them. Don't interfere if they are destroying themselves.

But if we want to get something passed, we need moderate Republicans to join with the Democrats in the House of Representatives. The only other option is to muck up the works.

The question is: Will establishment Republicans have enough courage to oppose the Tea Partiers in their own Party. If they are smart, they will...

They painted themselves into a corner. There isn't a statesman anywhere in those ranks now. If there was they would flip and give the Dems the numbers to help us all.
