McAuliffe Widens Lead Over Cuccinelli In New Poll

McAuliffe Widens Lead Over Cuccinelli In New Poll

Democrat Terry McAuliffe continues to widen his lead over Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (R) in the gubernatorial race, according to a new NBC4/NBC News/Marist poll released on Thursday.

The poll found McAuliffe leading Cuccinelli 46 percent to 38 percent. That's a three-point increase from the poll's previous results last month, when McAuliffe lead 43 percent to 38 percent. The most recent poll also found Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis pulling in 9 percent of likely voter support.

Recent polling has consistently shown a widening gap in the gubernatorial race in McAuliffe's favor. Part of this is likely related to the government shutdown. The poll found that 54 percent of likely voters in Virginia blame Republicans for the shutdown while just 31 percent of those surveyed blame President Obama. McAuliffe has hammered Cuccinelli on the shutdown, releasing numbers ads and statement tying the conservative attorney general to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

McAuliffe is also reportedly winning in the advertising war. He has outspent Cuccinelli 2-to-1 in the race, according to NBC.

If the GOP has to write off Virginia in Prez elections, they are largely unelectable.

Except in the most backwards areas and states. Crush them, and let them know it.

to watch my son, who attends school down here, scrimmage with his college baseball team. On the way down I saw a boatload of Cuccinelli and Obenshain signs (although interestingly enough, only one Jackson sign).
I can only pray that NOVA, Charlottesville, and VA Beach/Newport News come through with large enough margins to not only elect McAuliffe; but of a sufficient majority to reduce the Cooch to a whimpering mass of sobbing, tea-bagging, goo.

in the Alleghany Mountains. Morgan Griffin (R) is our state Rep, but Creigh Deeds is our state Sen. Not many signs for either Cuccinelli or McAuliffe, but personally, I don't know of anyone who is voting for Cuccinelli.

Problem is going to be the voter purge happening now. It's outrageous that Cuccinelli is still AG and is pro-actively working to purge thousands of voters from the rolls. This is clearly a conflict of interest and will only work in his favor if it's allowed to proceed. Hopefully, the law suit will prevent further damage, but I'm not holding my breath. So far, I haven't received a notice that I've been purged, so am planning on being at the polls bright and early. If I do get a letter, I'll still be there to protest.
