Sometimes victory is in the perception..?

...and the Republicans, especially thr Tea Party-types, perceive this as a disastrous defeat, just as Rush Limbaugh said this afternoon.

So those that say this was a defeat for the Democrats are not looking at the big picture.

The right-wing of the Republican Party are completely demoralized by this defeat. They bit off more than they could chew. Once burnt - twice shy.

It's a Democratic victory basically because they held firm while the GOP took turns shooting each other and because House Republicans made a loud show of fighting for something they weren't able to get.

Some seem to think that "winning" means complete and utter destruction of the opposition. I suspect that most others, that have lived a real life, see not allowing the opposition getting what they want, as a victory ... and if you move the ball in your direction; that represents a crushing defeat of your opposition.

negotiating the budget.

Plus they lost the willingness of the American public to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Plus they lost the uneasy truce between swing district sane Republicans and the crazies.

Plus they lost the Senate for 2014.

They may have also lost the House in 2014, though that remains up in the air.

They also may have lost their future.

The "news" stories will come out tomorrow, may be coming out now.

They didn't wear their TrueChristian™ armor big enough. They didn't allow guns in congress. The moon was in the wrong phase, without blood on it. They didn't tithe enough, they didn't dance around and hold poisonous snakes enough, they didn't take enough female children of other groups for rape and slavery, they didn't kill all the males, they didn't bash enough babies' heads against rocks, they didn't have enough sacrifices, they didn't collect enough foreskins, they didn't slay enough foreigners, they allowed statues and golden (or, close enough) calves (like the Bull with the shiny nuts on wall street.

Maybe they ate pork, or shrimp or crabs, denied that bats are birds and rabbits chew their cud like cows, maybe they wore mixed fabrics, like polyester and cotton blends, maybe they didn't smear their doorways with blood. They didn't burn enough goats and other animals to make god smell them and say, "Mmmmm, BBQ."

But at least they worshipped Mammon. And modern Jesus™ loves mammon.

Democrats haven't quite won yet. Democrats didn't lose but they didn't win yet. We can't claim victory and go on our merry way, we have to keep up pressure on the politicians on both sides going forward.
