News flash: pull a Rush Limbaugh and pay the price.
Patricia Heaton issued a slew of nasty tweets last week slamming Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown University law student and reproductive rights advocate who testified before Democratic members of Congress on why contraception should be covered by insurance companies.
Consequently facing an angry online backlash, the outspoken conservative actress has deleted not only the posts, but her entire Twitter account!

And she proves once again what an idiot she is. Hateful.

(2,672 posts)she plays the bitchy over-exasperated wife to a dim witted husband so well it's almost life like........like she's not even acting!
She is a very one level actress, one trick pony player. To paraphrase a line from Harry Potter, "she has the emotional range of a teaspoon".
dmr
(28,349 posts)Too mean to the point where it lost any funniness it was suppose to create. On a comedy show, the over-exasperated wife should show some kind of warmth toward her husband. She showed zero warmth or kindness, or affection.
Now seeing what she said in her tweets, she's living up to her reputation of being mean & unkind.
I could never understand how she won any of the awards she did win until someone on DU pointed out to me that she really had no competition. Too bad, because I think her winning those awards gives the false sense she can act.
I also want to clarify that I am on record on her lack of acting skills before I knew she was a conservative.

(50,566 posts)when I found out how Republican Kelsey Grammer is. It just ruined it for me (plus it was getting annoying, anyway). I knew Heaton was anti-choice, but I was able to separate from that with "The Middle" until this. I am quite shocked at how openly hateful and hostile she is to a young woman who is not even a public figure -- because Fluke thinks women should have access to birth control for both health reasons and reproduction prevention? WTF?!

She should get the "Rush" treatment - boycott ABC and her show's advertisers until she is the one paying the price for her vile actions.

(17,087 posts)Should we also boycott cable providers that carry ABC? What about Disney? ESPN?
I think that this is a different situation from Rush. Heaton is just a cast member of a tv series, not the owner or creator of content. I wouldn't want my employer censoring my free speech, which is basically what you are advocating. She can pay the price for her intolerance in the court of public opinion.

(4,112 posts)and its sponsors would be totally appropriate and in line with her own actions, however. And I don't see how that boycott would be any different from the Rush boycotts. Free speech is only free insofar as it doesn't infringe on someone else, and her attacks against Sandra Fluke were barely shy of Limbaugh's. I would absolutely sue if someone said those things about me.
bluedigger
(17,087 posts)She said what she said as an individual, not as a representative of the show. To punish her for her opinions by boycotting the show would injure her fellow cast members, the rest of the crew, the writers, etc... I'm pretty sure that many of them are good Democrats (hey, it is Hollywood) who don't deserve to be punished for the crimes of an associate. The best punishment for Heaton in this case is being ostracized by her own community, and I will leave them to it.

(4,112 posts)the content of Sandra's testimony and made her vile remarks based on assumptions and suppositions. How can someone "not agree with" a position that says that people should be able to have hormone therapy for an illness, which is the most fundamental thing that Fluke testified about? That has nothing to do with promiscuity, Patricia!

"If every Tweaton sent Georgetown Gal one condom, her parents wouldn't have to cancel basic cable, & she would never reproduce -- sound good?"
