I don't like blue dogs any more than most of you, but,

if ever there were a time to put forward conservative Dems in the right wing gerrymandered districts, it is right now. A House majority is a real possibility after tea crazies threw their hissyfit, and saner Rethugs failed to spank them. Certainly there are many districts with Rethug moderate congress critters that are in our grasp, but why not go for the more difficult ones also?

It is disempowering when you have to explain to people why a Democratic majority can't get anything done. At least republicans are an enemy you can fight against. This blue dog shit splits the party and makes ALL Democrats look incompetent.

How much worse it is depends on how often they actually vote with the fucking caucus that supported them and got them elected.

If we had 49 democrats and 3 moderate republicans who vote with the dems 60% of the time, it is better than 52 democrats with 3 blue dogs who vote with dems 40% of the time.

The majority only counts if it votes as a block.

roughly 70% of the time, at the worst. But you'll be lucky to even find any 'Baggers or other Republicans who will cooperate these days.
Another thing to add is that while I myself am also not a fan of Blue Dogs, I recognize that it's virtually impossible to win with a bleeding- heart liberal candidate in a state like Utah or Idaho. In any Blue state, you can certainly have all the left-wing candidates you want, but that won't fly in any Red states unfortunately.

A lot of times excuses are posted for representatives who can vote left but choose not to do so. If the rep in question is in a situation analogous to Mike McIntyre, then he's probably got to vote right because he's hanging onto his seat by his fingernails. If it's a district that leans right, but the particular rep wins with a decent margin, then it's a lot less forgivable.
