While I feel sure that your righteous indignation is directly from the Progressive Playbook, I think maybe appointing yourself Arbiter of Appropriate Behavior is not such a great idea. If you do not think it is right to make comments which are based on appearance, you should probably not do that. But telling other people what is and isn't allowed when their comments were not particularly inflammatory sort of makes you look like a, well, hall monitor (as has already been pointed out).
