The President and CEO of the tea party group Freedomworks predicted that House Republicans who vote in favor of the latest plan to avert a debt default and re-open the federal government, will face primary challengers.
"Absolutely," Freedomworks CEO and President Matt Kibbe said on CNN when asked if House Republicans would pay a "political price" for voting for the plan. "You're seeing that and a repopulation of the republican party."
(snip)
Kibbe also said he expected Democrats to run away from supporting Obamacare.
"You're going to see a number of Democrats back away from the president's position on this," Kibbe added. "It's going to happen because the reality is Obamacare isn't working for Americans."

No better way to ensure we get the House than having as many Republican knife fights as possible.

(3,647 posts)They were willing to blackmail the President because they are accustomed to such behavior by now from FreedomWorks and other pressure groups.
If the congress people don't do what the pressure groups say, they get a primary opponent who will do what they say. They are used to it now and decided to just extend the technique to the nation as a whole.

(6,021 posts)Last time he was on Maher's show, Maher and Alan Grayson ripped all his Anti-Obama(care) arguments to shreds. His only argument is too much corporate involvement in crafting ACA, which I'll grant. However, he has no alternative ideas and is either so stupid he doesn't realize who bankrolled his failing, soon-to-be-bankrupt astroturf org, or refuses to acknowledge.

(31,849 posts)The modern gop.
And how I see it, its really loss/loss time for them; and win/win for Democrats.
If 25 gop House members vote for the Senate measure, the measure passes; but he/she will face a primary challenge that is likely to be well funded on both sides
the seating member funded by the gop establishment and/CoCs, and their challenger funded by the teaparty folks. This primary will force the seating member further to the right; and, if the seating member votes against the Senate deal
that member has firmly labeled themselves with the wacko label.
In either case, assuming it to be a red district, e.g., -5 Democrat or worse, the Democratic candidate can run anywhere from center-right (to pick off independent/gop votes) to the leftier edge of the center-left and still be competitive.
Win for Democrats.
