Brisk turnout seen in N.J. special election

Plant voted for Booker. The debate with Lonegan sealed his decision after "I have been following Cory Booker's work for several years."

Jannet Zanger, also of Haddonfield, said she was not going to miss her opportunity to vote.

"I think that Booker is going to make a change in the senate," Zanger said. "That is why I am here."

Haddonfield residents Rich Hluchan and his wife, Deb, arrived at the polls with their Golden Retriever. As Rich Hluchan rattled off his of objections of Lonegan, his wife encouraged him to tone down his remarks.

"He (Lonegan) is mean-spirited," Hluchan said. "I think he thought he was a serious candidate, but he doesn't have a prayer."

n Cinnaminson, a Republican stronghold in Burlington County, a dozen people interviewed outside the Community Center polling place were split evenly between supporting Lonegan and Booker.

Four were Republicans who said they were voting for Booker because the federal government shutdown had convinced them to switch allegiances.

may have worked to swing voters to Booker. We had a shole lot of mean spirited dysfunction on display and don't need to add to it further.

several of them believe that Bonehead and the Senate republicans caved in order to help Booker. Others are already whining that dems have stolen the election.
