the "loser effect" -- I haven't seen a lot about this yet

I used to read it here and there relating to Democrats. Americans hate losers, and love winners. The GOP's penchant for winning at all costs had an advantage in that regard. Just the fact that we're winning this very public showdown will have its own rewards.


This may be just a cry for help; the wingnuts are undeniably in meltdown mode. But is it possible — dare we dream? — that by acquiring a whopping whiff of loser-stink, Republicans have done what decades spent demonstrating conclusively that they aren’t responsible stewards of a great democracy couldn’t?
