GOP: We can easily avoid default Thursday by not paying Social Security checks

by John Aravosis
I’ve been trying to figure out why so many of the Tea Partyers who now run the Republican party are so convinced that there won’t be dire consequences to not raising the debt ceiling, and it finally hit me.

Conservatives think that, come Thursday, we can service the debt by “simply” not paying any more Social Security checks.

This dovetails nicely, or mean-ly, with last night’s admission by House Tea Party leader, GOP Rep. Tim Huelskamp of Kansas, that the Tea Party won’t stop the default unless Democrats agree to cut Medicare. Democrats have argued for a while that the Republican party has had a thing for killing seniors, and now we know it’s true.

Conservative thinker George Will yesterday walked Fox News through how “easily” we can pay our debt by simply cutting all other spending.

Note that Will’s intent, and the intent of the conservative site that posted the dialogue, is to prove how “silly” it is that anyone is talking about an imminent default. It’s easy to avoid default, they argue – just stop issuing Social Security checks to seniors

them, too, right along with everyone else.

They thought that the Republicans they voted for would only take benefits away from those lazy inner-city people and leave God-Fearing Americans have their government benefits they so richly deserve, because they worked hard for them.

They suddenly realize that the Teabaggers they supported want Granny to die.

that the Pugs haven't totally turned off. just suggesting this action of not paying Social Security recipients should be enough to get the "bird" from seniors.

They'll be lucky to have any group vote for them in 2014. We must remember to remind voters of their childish behavior in 2013 (as well as 2010, 2011, 2012...)

fight back on those who stand in my way.

I used to volunteer to deliver Meals on Wheels and can testify that those recipients were among the most grateful I have seen in my lifetime. How the Pugs could even think of withholding funds from that program is beyond me.

We just have to stay alert to their shenanigans, as they will be running double-time to get their revenge. Normal people would slither away with their tail between their legs after losing this fight and making such asses of themselves in the process.

I must admit I was looking forward to watching their slither.
