Who is pulling the House GOP strings? The Heritage Foundation
I just heard a caller on Washington Journal make a very persuasive case that the Heritage Foundation scuttled yesterday's potential deal in the House.
I did a search for his claim that the House GOP shut it all down minutes after receiving an email from Heritage. He was absolutely correct. And let's not forget that last week the Koch Brothers gave Heritage a whopping $500,000.

What happens late in the afternoon was an email came out from an organisation called the Heritage Foundation - one of those extreme right organisations, very close links to the Tea Party - really sending a message directly to members of Congress saying do not vote for this.
And so the Republicans who had hoped that this might have been a way out, found that they simply didn't have the votes. They did not have the votes to push this thing through and resolve it.
So that's why that didn't happen. So now we're back up to the Senate and maybe that's where it will be resolved.
