BBC says Republicans raise pointless grandstanding to an art form.

Well said.

Republicans raise pointless grandstanding to an art form

As America stands on the brink of running out of money to pay its bills, the Republican leadership in the House raised pointless grandstanding to an art form.

More than that, in just a few hours they hit on a formula that flawlessly exposed their own division, underscored their leadership's weakness and highlighted the extent of their humiliation.

I read one far right blog this week that claimed President Obama was a Soviet mole, planted at childhood.

....As a ransom note this doesn't amount to much. It was, I suppose, something they thought they might be able to sell to activists back home. Rather like a man who has been almost stripped naked refusing to remove one last sock, claiming his dignity depends on it.

Learned a new (British) word: scupper: sink (a ship or its crew) deliberately.

I read one far right blog this week that claimed President Obama was a Soviet mole, planted at childhood.

Here's the clincher:

It seems much more credible that the Republican leader John Boehner was the plant, sent here to damage the GOP by sending its poll ratings through the floor.

US politics than the US reporters. or at least they don't just repeat bs and just tell it like it is.

they don't do the false equivalency bs.

Follow the money.

The more they play this up as a "game" with two sides involved and a what's going to happen next storyline, the more people will tune in to see the latest. If they reported it accurately there's not as much drama and suspense and they won't have the same viewership.

They don't care about truth or what happens to our country, just how much money they can rake in.

If your stated goal is to cut government spending, what better way than to intentionally get our credit rating lowered? Any increase in borrowing costs create independent pressure to spend less on actual programs. And, of course, social programs are where the cuts will be demanded....
