Some pertinent data:

01/19/2001   5,727,776,738,304.64
10/01/2001   5,806,151,389,190.21
01/20/2009   10,626,877,048,913.08

10/01/2009   11,920,519,164,319.42
10/11/2013   16,747,411,584,091.53

If one goes by the budgets of fiscal years that were signed by a particular President, George W. Bush saw the public debt more than double. President Obama is nowhere near that percent increase.

If one goes by inauguration dates, President Obama has seen the debt rise in dollars more than George W. Bush - although certainly nowhere near all previous Presidents combined.

Always ask to see the math - often it is based on nonsense.

..it is still inaccurate to say that Obama added it. Congress cuts taxes and spends money, not the POTUS.

all those billions was purposely not included in Bush's budgets so it would look like he was increasing spending. President Obama promised transparency and put those costs on the budget. That's why the dishonest repugs claim that.

O has actually cut the deficit by billions but the repugs keep repeating their talking points even though they must know they are not true.

More debt was added while President Obama has been in office, but that does not mean that he added the debt.

It is the President who signed the laws which caused the debt who is most responsible.

Over 80% of our debt was signed into law by Republican Presidents.
