Me, I turned out to be a Bleeding Heart Liberal.

(for example, listing the rich as "very successful people" when discussing how much or little they should be taxed).

Overall, I still like the politicalcompass quiz although I have to say this one had some nice graphics in the explanation.

But minivan? As a single guy, there is certainly no point for me to own a minivan. Nor would I want one, even if I could afford it, if I was married with children.

(23,955 posts)Of course you're a bleeding heart liberal. So am I. This is DU, it's not a big shock. If you dig a little deeper, the results are, IMHO, mixed at best.
Only 45% of the total respondents strongly agreed with "The test of a nation is how well it treats its weakest members.", and only 39% of what they're calling "The Center".
42% of the total (37% center) agreed with "We need the government to maintain programs like food stamps, welfare and Medicaid so that people who hit hard times dont fall through the cracks."
48% of the center and 51% of the total agree with either "Taxes should be abolished" or "Taxes should only be used to finance essential government programs." (whatever those are)
60% of the total and 58% of the center agree with "Require all registered voters to show a photo ID, such as a valid drivers license, at the polling booth before they can cast a vote"
There's a lot of alarming shit in that survey. And it looks like a well-designed poll with a relatively large sample size. I didn't see any documentation of weighting factors which might have been applied, so it's possible they just went with raw data which can skew results. E.g., 93% of the total report voting for a presidential candidate in 2012, but we know damn well turnout wasn't 93% (if only!)
GreenPartyVoter
(72,377 posts)that there is a lot of RW thinking going on in the center. I blame the mainstream media for giving us right-leaning spin during a lot of the "reporting," and for not challenging anyone or anything. Not so much journalism as press releases these days.

2410 registered voters

If the 2410 registered voters were randomly selected, then it's an excellent sample size. i'd be a lot more comfortable with it if they'd include a section on methodology though.

(1,980 posts)I'm not knocking you for posting it, I'm knocking them for making it like that. The wording is ambiguous and the choices are vague. I really saw nothing that reflected what I think about a given issue. I also don't like the hyping of the "center." Call me when the center has ever done anything useful in American history. The only thing I ever see the "center" do is bitch and whine about everybody else and cast votes that screw most people.
