This is shocking news that Tea Partiers do not want to hear because most of them voted for Romney. But it is something they need to hear.
Because, Romney was not only going to extend all the Bush taxcuts but wanted another $5 trillion in tax cuts. It is an illusion to think those taxcuts would have created jobs. They would only add to the deficit and debt.
Also, Romney and McCain agreed with the TARP bailout which caused the first deficit of 2009 to be $1.2 trillion dollars. There is absolutely no way that anyone could go from $1.2 trillion dollar deficit to a balanced budget in one year, especially during the deepest recession since the Great Depression. The unemployment rate would have been higher under McCain and Romney and would have added even more to our debt and deficit than it did under Obama because they would not have bailed out the auto industry and they would not have supported any stimulus spending to improve the economy.
If Romney or McCain had been elected, with Tea Party support, our debt would be approaching $20 trillion dollars today and the economy would be in even worse shape than it is right now, simply because we were in such an economic mess in 2009.
On top of all that, we would most likely still be in Iraq and Afghanistan with plans to invade Iran or Syria.
So the Tea Party is basing its entire reason for existence on an illusion about the debt and deficit. They are living a lie. They blame the huge debt on Barack Obama, when they voted for the huge debt and deficits under George W Bush, and when McCain or Romney would have done a much worse job at stopping that runaway train.

They also conveniently forget that the previous Democratic admin had a balanced budget and that all modern Republican Admins have exploded the deficit.
