So it would be a good thing to be very frugal this holiday season and replenish your emergency fund.

enough to cover one month, which about half of working Americans experience today.

The trick is to spend like that person another rung down on the economic ladder. Or maybe two rungs down so that over a few years you can pay off all your credit cards and accumulate an emergency fund.
