On how to treat hostage takers aka kidnappers. When the kidnappers pay to be relieved of the hostage, THEN they will never do it again!

and something President Obama doesn't give two flying fucks about.

It's hardly a cave or capitulation.

And it's certainly not worth defaulting the country over.

If you read that article a little more carefully, you'll realize it's rather poorly written.

The deal:
1. "Clean" CR.
2. Debt ceiling increase that will last about a year
3. Start budget negotiations.

Then the article starts talking about what might happen during #3. But none of those are actually part of the deal. They're in the article to make it look like the Republicans got something. If they accept Reid's deal, they get nothing other than pretending it's different than what Reid and Obama have been demanding since this started.

haven't seen anything about stuff like chained CPI or any other entitlement cuts of any sort being discussed, but there's always the chance of a surprise, I suppose. A medical device tax repeal would be no biggie to anyone. The rest of Obamacare isn't on the table, far as I can tell.

To thank them for standing strong so far, implore them not to agree to any grand bargain- before or after the hostages are released- that cuts benefits to SS, Medicare, or Medicaid or delays/ defends the ACA. Although I already got an automated message back from DiFi's office saying that due to the shutdown her office can't respond to my message right now, but they will when they are able. (If past is prologue, I expect a message from her explaining why they're actually saving them with austerity and it's a good thing, really)

Though we don't have to like it if is averts default. We need a damn Congress that will pass something to avoid these types of cliffs. Now that we know Republicans will use them for leverage.

It's not OK; it sucks. But we share the country with a bunch of selfish assholes; and until we convince them not to be selfish assholes (easier said than done), any deal with them is going to involve half measures and out and out crap.

That sucks; but if the alternative is to crash into the debt ceiling and keep Government closed . . . well a crappy deal is probably better than that.
