Down to the basics: They want to impeach our President.

Sweep away all the noise, the blah blah blah and at the bottom of the well you will find their dirty not-so-dark-secret is that "government default" is an impeachable offense.

This reads like an overwrought teen-age drama of souped up hot-rods playing chicken on a dark country road.
They are driving this country into default and do not plan on blinking......for one reason and one reason only...impeachment.
They are bound together like blood brothers having taken a death till we part oath. Eric Cantor has the reigns...John Boner has no balls...and Mitch McConnell didn't get his one term wish....but is driving the bus toward impeachment.

Listen, no one, and I mean NO ONE has reigned them in for the unlawful things they have done in the name of politics since the Reagan years. This isn't just happening on a federal level, but on a state and local level, it's just insane.

You're all just seeing something that has been growing at the grassroots level for decades because it was coming under the radar in subtle ways that most Republicans weren't even aware was anti-Constitutional.

Now, who is going to show them that they have been following crazy lemmings all this time?

Impeachment is probably a fine rallying cry for use on the dumbest of their followers, but a certain white vice president would take away one of their favorite toys. They must also be aware that a flimsy impeachment case would cut both ways.

What they want is to neutralize the agendas of this Democratic presidency, and to tar Dems enough to elect one of their own. Or to provide enough cover to hide a theft of the presidency.

Impeaching Obama doesn't change anything. Biden becomes president and appoints Obama as VP. Then, Biden resigns, Obama becomes president again, and appoints Biden VP. Two can play that game and they won't gain a thing.

I saw calls for impeaching President Obama back in 2009, days before he was even inaugurated.

On what grounds, you ask?

"He's not 'Murican!"

"He's a socialist!"

"He's a communist/nazi!"

"Him and ACORN stole da 'lection!"

Etc, etc...

Racism is only part of the equation IMHO; I think they would be trying just as hard to impeach any other non-repuke President

demonstrate to their base (which seems to be shrinking) that they stood firm in their convictions

On one side of the GOP page is impeachment - on the other side of the page, a laundry list of all of the mechanics that point to impeachment being highly unachievable - BUT THEY DON'T CARE. They want the President to Blink.
