(10,724 posts)I was really unaware of how much a difference medicare expansion made in the premiums, state by state, before reading about a lot of problems people have been having. Knowing the state and income levels and so forth really does help to make the conversation informative, and avoids a very predictable set of questions.
I'm pretty lucky myself - in Oregon I make about 30K supporting a family of 4, and that makes me fully covered at essentially no cost. In a couple of years the premiums go to $100-200, but I've already got that planned for. I hope to see other states expanding their programs soon, as people see what their local elected representatives have done, or not done, for them. It should become a major issue in state elections.

(1,456 posts)that's the very LEAST info that you would need to give. Or else you're going to be blasted.
Personally, I've been involved in a lot of new product roll-outs - this is GRAVY!

(53,661 posts)No one can make an intelligent answer to support or argue without some information. It'd be like saying, 'XYZ stole the election in 2012' and no link to prove it. Just one big whine fest, or taunting or mocking each other.
It's why people are asking for an ACA group at DU for factual information. The most helpful reply to a few threads were about going to a Kaiser website to see comparisons.
We may be experiencing an influx of trolls trying to break the resolve of Democrats and others for the President's holding firm on the budget, which no matter what the GOP says, is about the ACA.
When one posts on the ACA, without helpful knowledge you run the risk of being seen as not supporting the unity of Democrats against the GOP and this damnable hostage taking circus.
People are being hurt now thorugh the Sequester, shutdown and pending debt ceiling crash and all because the GOP is trying to thwart the will of the voters, Congress and the Supreme Court on the ACA. Cruz has come out and others have, saying in code language, that it will caise Americans to reject Reagaonomics plan of governnance, fleecing the people for the rich, or letting them get by with no government taxes and regulations, which hurt so many people.
All of this may be used in the political lens and these posts may be from people who are anarchist, Paulite or whatever. Some of them sound like RW emails.
You will not succeed in making any rules, you are just bringing out the Libertarians to fight with you when you do so. But we need to think about the motive and philosophy behind unlinked stories that are negative.
EOM.

(10,000 posts)What I've seen generally (in public message boards, Facebook, etc.) is that people who are anti-Obama have ACA horror stories (My rates will rise 400%!!!) and that people who are pro-Obama have great things to say about the ACA. It seems no one can give a good number on how many have signed up. I heard one Republican indicate 1 or 2 people; I've heard others say "thousands."
So when I evaluate someone's ACA praise or complaints, I would like to know something about their situation to know for whom this plan works and where the plan will need tweaking.

(22,308 posts)First of all, it was that OP that made me make this OP.
Also, I was addressing a thing (or things) WHATever was "speaking" for his money.
The very fact that you need to misrepresent my statement proves that you are wrong. If you had a valid point to make you could be honest about what I said.
