I Think Of HAL Being Turned Off During 2001 Space Odyssey With This Shut Down
Even though this shut down is supposedly limited in time it is not likely to stay that way. "Boner" is like that astronaut who was in the bay turning off HAL. With the turn of each key HAL slowly degrades to "Mary Had A Little Lamb". That is what is happening to our government and our country it is being slowed down incrementally. There are several disasters that cannot be properly addressed right now. When will the next one be.
Even right now employees are being called back to work with no pay to address dangerous hepatitis outbreak in Hawaii and a Salmonella outbreak. Disease does not wait for a shut down. And we are also at the beginning of the flu season. If a really serious bug took off we could be so far behind as to be able to not stop it.
The GOP does not believe in public health and that it can be taken care of by charities and churches. They do not like NIH or Centers for Disease Control. The tea baggers believe that these entities should be voluntary or private run at the state level. So if you get Ebola or something your local teabagger would send you to a shaman or witch doctor.
