Could someone please explain to me…

…why, whenever someone puts up a "Oh, noes! Obamacare is going to bankrupt me (or some friend or relative)!!!" post in GD, it shows up five or six times in the "latest threads" list (at least in the mobile version of the website)? I'm not talking about cross-posted threads; in all five or six cases, it's listed as being in GD. Strangely, I don't see this happening with other GD threads, but only the anti-Obamacare ones. It almost seems like some person or people has/have found a trick in the site's code that gives them extra visibility for their comments.

These kind of disruptive posts tend to rack up replies fast, and every twenty-five replies puts the thread up again of 'Latest' as a milestone marker. Most of the replies will be people raking the OP over the coals....

…but I'm not sure we should have that "feature," as it seems to only reward flame-bait. I could see kicking a thread up higher in the list when it passes a milestone, but not adding an additional entry while keeping the previous one in the list.

Because those milestone posts don't identify the original poster. Sometimes if I knew who made that OP I wouldn't bother opening the milestone thread.
