The Atlanta Braves fan who used his team's elimination from the Major League Baseball playoffs to mock the GOP for the government shutdown received a tongue-in-cheek response Wednesday from his Republican congressman.
Paul Kaplan sent a letter this week to Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA) after the Braves were eliminated by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

On Wednesday, Kingston responded with a letter that acknowledged Kaplan's sarcasm
"I agree with you that Republicans and the Braves have much in common," Kingston wrote, according to Fox Sports. "You could say that the Republicans Bravely take on tough issues such as defunding Obamacare and trying to curtail runaway spending. And we dont mind clearing the dugout for a good brawl. We also agree that Dodgers is a fitting name for the Democrats as they often Dodge serious issues such as balancing the budget or cutting spending."

(13,616 posts)First off Kingston, you might not want to hitch your wagon to MLB, as it is populated with arrogant Millionaires on the green, and arrogant billionaires in the box seats, both of whom have made the lower classes in the seats wonder why the hell we keep throwing money at them. America is really, really not in the modd to hear a bunch of rich people bitch about their fate, especially when they are prone to self-destrictive behavior.
Second, there is nothing "Brave" about taking money away from the weakest, the children, the elderly, the underclass, and even less brave about giving it to the same Millionaires that have taken several bailouts, including the savings and loan debacle that happened long before Obama. There is nothing brave about spending ten times more on the military than anyone else, especially when we cannot even give our young veterans benefits when they come home without their legs. There is anothign brave about trying to balance your budget on the backs of those who have no money, while groveling to the rich who want more, more, more with less less risk.
And there is nothign brave about the fact that when you captulate, which you will do, it will be because wall Street decided to put you to sleep.

(338 posts)Shutting out 800,000 employees to defund a law providing health insurance to millions. A law the President believes in and dedicated his career to. Our soldiers, law enforcement, fire fighters our mothers who go forward with us no matter what we do are brave.
You are afraid of the Tea Party, you are a coward. Sitting in your suit, passing your laws and raising money. Please. What you do every day is not brave. Our President faces death threats every day, lives are at risk based on his decisions, he doesn't talk about being brave. Save your wit and your bravery for golfing. Open up the government, federal workers are feeling the pain now. Not just the whiners at the National Parks. Get to work and do your job man.
