Not able to pass ID Checks on HealthCare.Gov? Do you have a copy of your credit report?

If you do, the information from the site is coming from Experian's credit report on you. If you have gone online to get your free annual credit report, you should be able to get your Experian credit report from that same website, and answer the questions based on it.

If you are unable to get Experian's identity verification to work but can get another bureau's credit report from the free Government site, another option is to buy a "tri-bureau" credit report from whichever bureau was able to confirm you were who you said you were. Many sell these for less than $10, or have them for free if you are sure to cancel the trial in time. Then, you'll know what data Experian is showing for you, and can answer the identity questions correctly.

Also, don't be afraid to say "None of the Above" if none of the listed answers are accurate -- two of my four questions were answered like that, and I passed verification.

I didn't know.

There's a reason I didn't link to the URL of the site -- though I know what it is -- because they always recommend you TYPE it in, not click on it, to make sure you're not getting phished.

So I didn't even go to check and see if it was up!

Doh!

While I don't think lovely Winstars would ever post a phishing site link here... Can't be too careful.

.... about not trusting links to it. Apparently people set up phishing websites that looked like links to get your free annual credit report from the government, but were designed to steal your information.

On the site, it says specifically:

We guard your privacy.

Please be aware of how you arrived at this site. To ensure that you are visiting the legitimate site, type https://www.annualcreditreport.com directly into the address bar on your browser. You will never receive an email directly from the Annual Credit Report Request Service.

For further information please read the Security Policy.

A great site for info on all things credit related is:

http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?act=idx

It's a great resource and community that has most answers to questions we could possibly have.

14. The typing out thing involves links that contain text descriptions that differ from the actual

underlying link.

For example I can put a link on a web page that shows as:
http://somewhere
but the actual underlying link is
http://somewhere-else.

DU posts don't have that issue because the actual links are the text description used for the link.

You can always check by putting your mouse over the link and seeing what your browser shows as the actual
underling link is in the status bar.

9. You are correct. The government MAKES the big 3 CRA's give you 1 free report each year,

But the site I linked above actually sends you to each CRA. (Experian, TransUnion and Equifax)

You get your report from them, not the government and/or FTC.

16. The only ones that matter are the ones you get from the CRA's themselves.

Only those reports obtained from each CRA has a individual report number. You need that number if you find an error and wish to dispute something. Reports from sites like freecreditreportdotcom or Credit Sesame, CreditKarma can be incomplete and/or getting a tri-report from a CRA won't help you because you need that report number for the individual CRA's for them to accept your dispute.

Your free reports from:

https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp

give you this number, or you can buy them directly from each CRA at any time...

Experian prosecuted for stealing my identity and using my bank account to steal money from me. Twice. Experian has lost class action suits for ripping people off in the past. I do not sully myself by personally dealing with credit rating agencies, which I believe are undemocratic, immoral, and unethical, and which should be illegal. I believe I have obligations to my government, but not any private business. Experian has no right to be snooping into my life without my permission, and the government has no right to mandate Experian to snoop into my life.

They would not verify my identity, even though I have a birth certificate, social security card, driver's license, passport, voter registration card, employment/employer records, current IRS records, a fingerprint clearance card from the FBI, car insurance, a stable residence, a telephone, and 3 separate bank accounts with checking and savings, none of which have ever been overdrawn.

I have no business contracts other than month to month pay as you go for telephone and internet, except for my car insurance, and I am never late paying my insurance.

I have no credit cards, because I don't want any. I have no debts, past, present, or pending.

The bottom line here is, a private company like Experian hired to verify identity can deliberately fuck us over and get away with it.

Experian Sued For Its Deceptive FreeCreditReport.com Ads

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/04/experian-sued-for-its-dec_n_449098.html

There's more, too. Experian is a corrupt, white collar criminal RW republican supposrting entity that deliberately cheats innocent people, and they cannot be trusted.
