TV's Duggar family to campaign for Cuccinelli (Virginia)

Just in case anyone was wondering how the Duggars stand on a woman’s right to choose.

TV's Duggar family to campaign for Cuccinelli
Friday, October 11, 2013 2:54 AM EST
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A busload of reality television stars - all from the same family - will cruise through Virginia to support Republican Ken Cuccinelli's gubernatorial campaign.
The Duggar family from the TLC series "19 Kids and Counting" is planning a three-day bus tour starting Monday. The Duggars will make stops in Lynchburg, Richmond, Virginia Beach, Fredericksburg and Woodbridge in support of Cuccinelli, the father of seven.
The tour is sponsored by Family Research Council Action. The executive director of the conservative advocacy group is 25-year-old Josh Duggar, the oldest of the 19 Duggar children….

(excerpt)
Why He Matters
In his first few months in office, Cuccinelli was already making good on his 2009 campaign promises to go beyond the traditional duties of Virginia's top legal office and actively fight for divisive social causes important to his conservative base, from battling the "homosexual agenda" to resisting the expansion of the federal government.
Cuccinelli warned Virginia's colleges and universities that their anti-discrimination policies couldn't protect gays. He injected Virginia into the international debate over global warming, legally challenging the Environmental Protection Agency's decision to regulate greenhouse gases. And he became one of the nation's most prominent adversaries of President Barack Obama's historic health-care reforms by immediately filing a lawsuit claiming they were unconstitutional. In February 2011, he announced he would bypass an intermediary court and appeal directly to the U.S. Supreme Court to review the state's challenge to the health-care law….

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/15/planned-parenthood-ken-cuccinelli_n_3279173.html
Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the political arm of the national family planning provider, launched a series of web ads on Wednesday that aim to keep Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli out of the governor's office.
The ads highlight Cuccinelli's record on women's health issues as part of the group's "Keep Ken Out" campaign. Cuccinelli, a Republican, has vocally opposed abortion rights as attorney general, without exceptions for rape, incest or when the woman's health is in danger. He has also been accused of strong-arming the state's Board of Health into passing a set of physical building requirements for abortion clinics that could shut down most of the clinics in the state….

I saw a few episodes of the show at my parents' house one holiday. They do a lot of goofy shit, but they seem to really love each other. And I don't think Mama June would spit out 20 kids because God told her to, either.

Cuccinelli is trailing in the polls because he is considered by voters to be too extreme, even for Virginia. So why the last-minute push to publicize the campaign by parading out a busload of celebrity Quiverfull whackjobs?

If he thinks that high turnout among the nutjobs is going to be enough to win, then his math is even worse than his purported legal skills.

has no self-awarenes. These idiots lose elections and think it is because they haven't tacked hard enough to the right. Living in the Fox universe will do that to a person. I say, more power to him! Bring out the crazy, show everyone who you are, who you always were, and who you always will be.

Sooner or later, one of them will reveal that he or she is gay, pro-choice, or otherwise against the family beliefs.

I hope to see the Republican Party implode soon; that would take a lot of power away from these organizations. If you take away their access to media and their influence on politicians, they'll eventually crumble. This country needs an enema.

Free Jinger Duggar!

Jinger is one of the middle Duggar daughters, and the only one who shows a spark of life. If anyone is going to break out of the Duggar Borg, our money is on Jinger. One theory is that she resents her name being misspelled just so her family could keep their J streak going.

Geez, Virginia, couldn't you come up with a better opponent for the Cooch than Terry fucking McAuliffe? I mean, he'll probably win, and he might even be a decent governor--but fuck, he's a terrible candidate and an even worse person.

...the latter program I adore. All about two little people, their marriage, careers, becoming parents and their struggles and triumphs. They could not have children and they have now adopted two little people toddlers -- one from China and one from India. Their trip to China to get their son Will? I cried so much watching this.

Unfortunately...when I DVD The Little Couple, I get the tail end of those assholes with a zillion kids and mega stupid ideas. I now have the quickest trigger finger on a TV remote fast forward in the word.

I understand people's desire to "not judge" but dismissing the possibility that religious extremists in this country can be and are politically dangerous and wanting to declare them "hands off" in the past has not done much to help the progressive cause nor the country. Now we have a major assault on teaching basic science in schools, an ever-shrinking right to choose, never-ending war, shrinking to non-existent aid for our own people who fall on hard times, open racism and misogyny; this kind of outlook combined with a public platform is not at all good for this country.

It's not just the Duggars, either. The popularity of redneck TV isn't devoid of a political message; for instance, Phil Robertson of "Duck Dynasty" has used his celebrity to publicly blast what he calls "the abortion culture". Misogyny, racism and homophobia has found a populist platform via reality TV. Propaganda for the masses.
