First, HRSA is Health Resources Services Administration. It's part of the Department of Health & Human Services. HRSA awarded grants to over 1,100 of its federally funded, qualified health clinics across the U.S. to help people get informed and to help them apply for ACA. You can go to these clinics for assistance in the application process.

Just click on your state for the one nearest you. Some states have a lot, some have only one. Others simply haven't been updated since the shutdown. They aren't operated by the Feds, so they are open. They receive funding from HRSA.

(116,464 posts)You can apply for Marketplace coverage three ways: online, by mail, or in-person with the help of a Navigator or other qualified helper. Telephone help and online chat are available 24/7 to help you complete your application. Call the call center to have a copy of the paper application mailed to you..

(22,541 posts)will finally check out the clinics. Maybe get a flu shot while they're there. Find out what kind of coverage they can get until ACA policies kick in. People unfortunately post false rumors about the clinics just like they do about ACA rates. And not all govt clinics are HRSA funded/qualified. It makes a difference.

(27,670 posts)It would be an all day excursion for me, with 80 miles of the round trip drive on a winding mountain road, and with most likely a long, frustrating wait to see an agent.

(22,541 posts)If you think a decision was made regarding your eligibility that is in error, ask about an appeal. If your job-based coverage doesn't meet the standards, they can help. That's what they're there for.
While you're there, if you're not insured now, find out what the clinics can offer now in the way of medical care. Flu shots, doctor visits, prescriptions...
Good information like this should be Stickied or in a separate group above the fold like Politics and GD are, but Skinner does not want that.
