1. A short term CR and debt limit increase, followed by a budget conference with no preconditions with regards to revenue increases;

-or-

2. Pass a 1 year CR and debt limit increase, with the issue to be revisited just before the next election.

Otherwise, they can go down in history as the idiots who destroyed their own country.

Republicans said they would offer specific ideas for opening the government, which sent staff working into the night to discuss components of a compromise government spending bill.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R., Va.) told Mr. Obama during the meeting that Republicans were willing to work through the weekend on a funding package to reopen the government next week, as long as the president agreed to let lawmakers and aides start longer-term budget talks, according to a person familiar with his remarks.''
