that is a combo of various surnames in three different families, plus a number,
and was told that 'this account name already exists'.
Nope. Just glitches.
Hope my wrists can hold up to get through this!

Also, on edit--did you see this thread? Might be what happened to you:

Hang in there. It could be hackers; the GOP wants this thing to fail, they want people to give up, to get mad, to be demotivated.
Of course, they spend a lot of time doing that "demotivating" thing--if they spent half their time doing things that empowered people instead, we'd have a better world. Of course, the rich might not get richer in that case...

(35,321 posts)and just after I started they rolled out a new ordering system
it was a nightmare for 6 months - but they stuck with it and it works great now
their profits have increased every year since
have patience - they will get it right

(12,296 posts)If people are supposed to be enrolled by 12/15 in order to have coverage start on 1/1, that clock is ticking. RAPIDLY.

(35,321 posts)people will get their health care
we gotta support the system
the bugs will be worked out and people will get affordable health insurance
piling on does not help

(4,959 posts)Slow down. You were replying to someone who is bringing up the very real concerns of people who would like their healthcare to start on Jan 1. And your reply had nothing to do with health care. It had to do with penalties. Most people signing up through the exchanges are doing so to get HEALTH CARE, not to avoid penalties. So maybe you should slow down and try to remember what it is all about. And possibly imagine what it is like to be sick or worried or in debt due to lack of health insurance, if you are lucky enough never to have been in those shoes. Imagine what it is like to know it may be even more time before you can get what you need, despite what you've been promised. The anxiety and unhealthiness under which many live due to these real conditions (caused by the very 'system' you suggest we 'support') is fucking awful. The not-knowing makes it even worse.

(35,321 posts)Even Obama said early on that the system would be slow at first
it is getting nothing but negative press
it is not unusual for a new computer program to have problems but this one is being called a failure right off the bat
if it's not working the way one wants it now - give it some time - IT WILL WORK - it's over-loaded due to high traffic
If people pace themselves it may help the very system that they want to work work better
Your assumption that I don't care if people get health care was quite rude

(3,539 posts)Sometimes no matter how well something is tested the problems don't really start hitting the fan until many people start trying to use it.
My bet is the overall QA rep for the ACA applications isn't getting a heck of a lot of sleep of late.
Don't ask, just trust me on this one.

(12,296 posts)I'm still waiting, after a week, to have any account validated. I have tried with my 3 email addresses - work, gmail and my kiddo's gmail. None of them will let me in. So I click on 'forgot username' or 'forgot password' to generate an email.
When I do get the validation email and click the link (sometimes 24 hours AFTER I request it), and answer the challege questions, I get an error message that says my account doesn't exist and I answered the questions wrong. Well, how do they know I answered the questions wrong if my account - that they just sent a validation email for - doesn't exist?
... buuuuut if I try to 'set up new account' using that same email and/or username, I get ANOTHER error saying "this account name already exists."
It is a fucking mess.

(7,699 posts)I'm lucky in that we at least do have (unaffordable at 30% of gross income) insurance, and the policy
is in force until June 1, 2014.

(12,296 posts)I couldn't afford the coverage that the company I contract for offers, so I took COBRA for dental and vision.
COBRA's medical was close to $1000/mo. I'd have to be carrying a limb or major organ in my purse to use that kind of coverage.

(7,699 posts)But my husband has diabetes, heart damage/disease, chronic kidney disease, two previous bouts with skin cancer.
The first two years that I was married to him almost a decade ago, his health care costs were actually over $10k-$20k.
That's before he got really ill.
If he requires dialysis, the treatments are about $2800 a week around here. At that point, we could get
Medicare. Hoping that doesn't happen but then we have to make it until March 2015 for Medicare
and unless he can keep working part-time, we won't make it financially.

(12,296 posts)Luckily, I am single and in pretty good health. I had a Tubal Ligation & Ablation in January 2012 that I had to pay a $3k deductible + 20% for, out of pocket.
I try to stay in decent shape & don't go to the dr. because I dislike dealing with 'medical professionals' who herd people in and out of the office like cattle and can't remember my name from one appointment to the next. Ya' know ... You've been looking up my crotch for the last 25 years, can you at least remember my name?
