News from AR or I still believe in a place called Koch
I feel like I'm living in the Mirror Universe from Star Trek. While the rest of the country is turning on the Tea Party and those who fund them, here in Arkansas they seem to be unfazed by the damage their extremism has caused and are standing up for the Kochs. Any attacks on Koch influence in government is being met with comparisons to George Soros. I've had to do a crash course on him to be able to hold my ground. Fortunately, they are all wealthy and the similarities end there. The defense of the Kochs and groups like AFP, ALEC and Club for Growth has been stronger than I expected. I hoped I would be able to push people against the strong influence ALEC has in our state legislature, but I'm having little success.
Noelle Nikpour is on Twitter acting surprised that she is catching hell for defending the Kochs on MSNBC today and she has so many defenders. I'm in awe.
If I were to gauge how well the shutdown strategy was going just by Arkansas residents alone, I'd say the GOP isn't being damaged by it. The national polls are keeping me from losing hope. I hope everyone is right about the Tea Party's demise in 2014.
Is it this bad everywhere or is it because I'm stuck in the south? Tell me something good.
From behind the front lines,
Cannikin
