Obama calls the TPP negotiation he missed "like missing his own party"

Just so it's clear for everybody, president Obama isn't 'just letting some people do some work on it'. He has passing the TPP front and center.

From the full transcript of today's speech:

You know, and the irony is, our teams probably do more to organize a lot of these multilateral forums and set the agenda than anybody. I mean, we end up being engaged much more than China, for example, in setting the agenda and moving this stuff forward. And so when -- it's almost like me not -- not showing up to my own party.

For the record, and since I was asked to asked to supply an EXACT quote when I dared say Obama is pushing the TPP.

And yes, it's perfectly possible to be very happy about Obama thoroughly demolishing the republicans and especially their extremist wing and yet still be sure the TPP he is pushing is really bad news, as is his support of it.

calling something your own party suggest a little more ownership than a mere formality where you have to be present, right.

the question he responded to was

And the one that occurs to me is the trade deal that you've tried to do in Asia. The leaders today announced that they still want to wrap it up, but they no longer are able to say they want to wrap it up by the end of this year.

Had you been there, do you think you could have gotten that additional push?

That's a clear reference to the TPP, and there is no reference to APEC in either the question or his response.

i'm not saying he wasn't talking about tpp. but that his response was about the overall event itself regarding the quote about not being at his own party.

but would you dispute that Obama has given passing the TPP priority (as his 2013 SOTU indicates)?
