Is anyone else tryning to listen to the president on BBC?

Are you having trouble with bad reception or is my poor reception due to the LDS/NPR station (the only station I can get up here on the mountain) just censoring the news they can allow their faithful to hear again?

It seems like they are interrupting the audio on purpose, this happens a lot when he s being broadcast.

comes in clearly 98% of the time and since there aren't any thunderstorms or blizzards to interrupt the signal to/from the repeater, I don't think that was it. It usually happens when Obama is making a speech that they don't want anyone to hear. On the system they use, you can actually hear them flicking the sending device on and off if you listen carefully...

Not a conspiracy for them, it's common practice. Lived here for decades and they do this when unpleasant news is being broadcast from beyond their station base, sometimes they just cut in to an ongoing story and start talking about some church event or something. Pretty annoying for those of us who aren't part of the organization. That's why I have to pay for Internet access, otherwise I wouldn't have any way to know what's going on anywhere but in eastern Idaho/western Wyoming and church news.

I figured I'd have to catch it online later. It just pisses me off these clowns get away with this censorship crap on an NPR affiliation... but then, they also get away with airing several hours a week of "church" too... on an NPR frequency. I thought I'd check to see if it was BBC or my regional NPR provider, seems my first guess (the NPR provider) was correct since it is coming in quite clearly now.

Heaven forbid their enemy should be able to address their kool-aid drinking flock.

I'll have to navigate to one of those options for the replay, thanks.

I went to the MSNBC website and clicked on the Listen Live thing at the top.

I don't happen to own a TV, but I don't miss breaking news because invariably various outlets will go to live streaming coverage. If something happens in a particular location, like a tornado or shooting or earthquake, I'll first check the local TV stations for that city or area. They often have excellent live coverage.

I was actually listening to my local NPR station when he started, and they were having some sort of reception problems which is why I went to the internets.

My NPR station has the BBC News Hour on at noon and that was cutting out really badly, but that's the norm for that station when Obama speaks. I attribute it to the owners of the station since they have such a stellar track record on that. Funny that it started to break up right at the beginning of his speech segment and came in clear as ever as soon as that segment was finished, the usual tactic.

they've got something else on now. I'll find it on one of their playback channels online or someplace. I'm sure there are several by now.

(from something I just posted on his speech):

25. Some of these Republicans accept large donations from wealthy extremists
and we don't know what their agenda is*
- you guys know this, you write about them (paraphrasing). They are afraid to not do what they want. They are not afraid of a challenger to their left since they live in gerrymandered districts. They are afraid of a Tea Party challenger in the primary. (also all paraphrased)

* Well, we do know what some of them want. They belong to ALEC and we have seen their draft bills. They constantly say negative things about our social safety net. They want those programs to evaporate. That is a redistribution of wealth to insist the wealthy pay a little higher taxes to help finance programs to support the poor, the disabled, and of course that socialist health care program MUST GO.(my added comments)

I just finished listening to the whole PC and that is one of the points that really got my attention and my brains was saying, pretty much, what you added as your comment.

He knows it but he can't just blurt out names and known agendas like we could. There are specific issues that he has probably been briefed on in private which, due to certain elements in the code of ethics, prohibit him from speaking publicly about in specific terms. (I just reread the ethics code last night as I was browsing around the .gov sites. I was looking with regard to the SES which are a portion of the ethics by which the president and all government employees are bound, they just add on to them with each higher level of office.)

Besides, he is in a lot of danger from the fringe elements of our society who can't understand anything other than the most extreme actions as remedy for dispute as we see from those threads on threatening tweets etc.. So jeopardizing his safety even further for the sake of calling out those extremists by name who are pretty well known to the rest pf us is not worthy of the price.

It was a good PC and I hope that all who oppose the TP in the government will follow suit and speak out constantly. I don't know if a public general strike would do any good but it may increasingly become a consideration for some folks as this drags on, heck more than half of the population isn't able to go to work anyway. Wonder how long the public can withstand the pressures of this hostage incident.

Thanks for pointing that out, it's worthy of discussion and wide-spread exposure.

Due to all the pressure I'm enduring I have begun to rearrange everything in my cabin, I don't want to store my bicycle outside this winter so I'm making room for it. Thing about the cabin in the woods lifestyle; if you want to add something or change the location of one thing, you have to rearrange the whole interior. It'll burn off some of this pent up frustration.. for now.
