SPINE SPOTTED-Dems Tell GOP: NO "Supercommittee"-"Stop letting the Tea Party tail wag the elephant"

House Democrats Pan GOP Proposal For Another Supercommittee

............

Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Cali.), chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, said that a supercommittee was unecessary for solving the current fiscal impasse.

"We don't need a supercommittee," he said at a Capitol Hill press conference. "We don't need a sequester to tell us how to vote."

Becerra placed blame on the Tea Party, and called on House Republicans to end the shutdown.

"Stop letting the Tea Party tail wag the elephant," he said at the conference. "Get up in the morning and do what you're paid to do."

They are all singing out of the same hymnal this time, we might get them to stand down this time for the good of the country...maybe not, but we might .

actually came around and joined the rest of their colleagues. GOOD. What the fuck were they thinking??? And WHERE were their loyalties? I got calls in to two of them, Kind and Cooper, yesterday.

I would like to see him run for the Senate if not for the presidency, but he is not fond of fundraising. He is the first in his family to graduate from college, and he graduated from Stanford Law School. Just a wonderful person as well as a dedicated member of Congress. He is as honest as a person can be. I'm so proud that he represents my area, a relatively poor area of Los Angeles.

Here is his web adress.

http://becerra.house.gov/

He meets with constituents whenever he has a chance. Holds morning coffees. Talks with everyone and with each individual if you stand in line to say hello afterward.

He holds conference calls with many, many constituents at once.

Contrast that with John Boehner. A few years ago he said he had never met someone who wanted the ACA or something to that effect. A group of his constituents who support the bill got together and requested a meeting to talk to him so that he could meet people who supported the ACA. He refused to meet with them. His staff would not arrange meeting. I feel sorry for Boehner's constituents. They are the last of his concerns. He cares more about the Tea-Baggers than about his own constituents.

His name is David Price and he has faithfully stood against the Republican agenda. I only hope we can get enough people to demonstrate, knock on doors, telephone, etc. to turn this flipping RED SATAN,er STATE to BLUE. Sorry about the typo..heh

to help corporate media propagate that outright lie.

Kudos to Rep. Bacerra!

I'm happy to see Democrats are united. United we will stand, divided we will fall.

Really, who wants to sit in a room with a sadistic bully, trying to rip apart every program that helps your constituents?
I keep reading differing opinions, contrasts in policies, but I Don't see an exchange of ideas, just a broken record

Glad you're here.

But please understand - Obama has taken a stand and he's absolutely correct in sticking to it. NO negotiations with hostage takers! You give up your hostage hold and all these revolving conditions you keep coming up with as you keep your gun pointed at my face, and THEN we'll talk.

FINALLY he's showing the kind of backbone and firmness with these assholes that, frankly, many of us think he should have done from the beginning. I hope he keeps it up!!! Otherwise, he's nothing more than a flabby, wishy-washy parent who gives in to his tantrum-throwing three-year-old. And guaranteed - if you give in to that tantrum-throwing three-year-old, you will eventually get some 33-year-old prick on the freeway, cutting you off WAY too fast and too close, and flipping you the bird - as you careen off into an accident that his selfish, thoughtless, ill-considered short-sightedness just caused.

Go Obama, stand tall.

I have Obama every dime, I didn't have in both elections, he is making me happy that I did. I can't criticize him in public, but in private I have.

Update: Becerra sat on the failed supercommittee and dissed the idea of forming another.

“Not again, not again,” he said of the supercommittee. “Having served as a member of the so-called supercommittee, there was nothing super about it.”

to go to Washington and take care of the people's business. To protect the welfare of the public and to strengthen this great country's democracy not dismantle and destroy it. Their main purpose is to keep America's democracy flowing for all of its people not just a few. The GOP party for the pass many years have fallen deeper into a path of destruction of anything that is not in their 1% favor. It must stop.

the only way this will work is to stand together. It's hard because people are hurting. Commissaries are closed and fed employees are struggling with upcoming rent payments. I hope this destroys the republicans. Really I do
