Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have repeatedly heard that the WH wants to help Boehner save face.
Also, I've heard other Dems say that he's a "nice guy" or a "good guy" and its too bad that he is at the mercy of the Tea Party, etc.
I despise him and always have and I just don't understand their esteem for him.
Is it because they would rather have him than whiny little Eric?

(68,868 posts)Democrats appear to be thoroughly enjoying his public humiliation.
Especially Harry Reid.

(27,315 posts)They behave as if they want him out. They have had calculated they needed somebody more able to have control of his caucus, even if it may be potentially more conservative.
It is painfully obvious the GOP does not know what they want. They float propositions to abandon them immediately and move on to the next one. What will come after the supercommittee.
I also think that there is a leadership vacuum. Nobody wants to be speaker of this House so it stays on Boehner's incompetent head.
I really think that after this royal mess by the republicans, that no matter who was speaker, they would have the same problems, and whoever is speaker would have to take the heat for the "next" mess caused by the tea party clowns. Who in their right mind would want to be speaker when they wouldn't be able to control the idiots on their crazy far out left wing. It would be political suicide. Cantor may have wanted it earlier, but I really doubt if he would now.

(58,179 posts)A lot of people are legitimately worried about a true fucking raving lunatic taking the Speaker's gavel if Boehner falls.
He's basically less than useless, true enough, but if anyone thinks he's as bad as it can get...no no no no, he is not.
So.

(26,355 posts)Well, that explains why Eric Cantor hasn't put a shiv in Boehner's back - he doesn't want to be in the hot seat if he doesn't have the power to make his caucus follow orders.
