Healthcare.gov - latest Catch22...

So, after the wait this morning for maintenance, I was able to login with out an Error screen.

However:

Two or three screens in, I was told I can't ACTUALLY apply unless my identity was verified. Various clicks simply returned to the same yellow error screen. Said yellow screen gave a number to call.

I called, got through quickly, but the person on the other end had no idea what I was asking even when I read the screen. Finally they gave me the number to Experian, the company that does verification.

Called THAT number and an automated voice said that they were experiencing higher than normal call volumes, told me to call back another day, then hung up.

According to the person I called:

Log back on your ACA account
If ID verification still an issue
Call the help line and tell them you were told that you need to have a conference call with Experian while you are still on the line. If they don't understand ask to speak to a supervisor.

Good luck.

I think they fixed enough problems that now they really ARE experiencing overloading. It, for a change, FEELS like an overloaded, instead of just a buggy, website.

Progress.

Log in - Nicely framed grey blank screen.

Click My Profile icon: Screen with some profile info and not verified warning...

click verify now - - Nicely framed deep blue blank screen - with blank red error message after about 2 minutes.

I'll bag it for today and try again tomorrow.

Probably collectively running into tens of millions of dollars.

Telecommunications companies must be making a fortune from this and laughing all the way to the bank. The government probably cost at least half the people who are trying to get insurance through the ACA a minimum of $100 apiece in time lost and telephone charges. My time is valuable. I don't want to waste it because a bunch of low budget H-1B internet techs from Saudi Arabia and India who took jobs away from my neighbors were too clueless to do their job.

What a total clusterfuck this is.

And it is very, very wrong for the government to force citizens who need insurance to contact a private credit rating agency like Experian.

Fuck Experian. My credit rating is over 800, and I never use credit of any kind ever. I don't want them to know anything about didn't me or my life. I'm sick of having goddamn corporations invade my privacy

End of rant, for now.

Experian and Symantec’s two-factor credentialing solution selected by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

Experian and Symantec continue to gain traction in the public sector

Costa Mesa, Calif. and Mountain View, Calif. – Experian® and Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today announced that the two-factor credentialing solution jointly developed by the companies was selected by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide Enterprise Remote Identity Proofing (ERIP) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Credential Services in support of the Affordable Health Care Act (ACA). The Experian and Symantec solution will play a critical role in a $78 million contract that was awarded to Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) providing CMS with an offering that helps them solve key challenges that arise in serving the nation’s large uninsured population.

The Experian and Symantec solution combines Experian’s identity proofing capabilities with the strong authentication capabilities of Symantec’s Validation and ID Protection (VIP) Service to deliver secure online identity credentials. It will minimize the risk of fraud by providing more than 35 million U.S. citizens with secure online access to the State and Federal Health Insurance Exchange, while complying with electronic authentication guidelines in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication SP 800-63-1 and achieving Level 3 Assurance.

It means that the system is working better now, so that people can get through to that part of the process.

I think the conference call advice elsewhere in this thread is good, but I would wait a bit, because I really don't think Experian can handle the volume. You may get put on endless hold.

in my case as well. Finally after a week of trying, got to conference call part, only to get the automated message from Experian. And then "click".

Trying to get the energy to try once again another one of these days....
