The financial crisis in 2008 was VERY good for the top 1% (even 10%) in our country. Markets went way up...employment went down and workers lost bargaining rights...social programs were cut.
Why not do it again?
I also believe there's a serious undercurrent of apocalyptica running through the GOP now. They want to be persecuted. They need to believe the end of times is coming (even if they are doing it themselves) because that justifies their moral hostage-taking.
I think we may go over the cliff.

(118,677 posts)To destroy Obama? I know that rich people can buy up resources and other corporations at rock bottom prices during a recession. So recessions are not always bad for them. Would the Kochs do this? I mean it isn't as if the GOP has not already tried and succeeded in making sure the economy recovers as slow as possible?
