who made the graphic really believe that s/he knows where HK is, and was just too confident to bother checking? Is there some automated process to make those graphics, that had a glitch?

It's mind-boggling, really, that anyone could be that ignorant. (And dangerous, really - if it's about people-killing giant hornets, we need to know EXACTLY where to stay away from... )

I was going to comment about low-level staff salaries and "you get what you pay for", but come to think about it, it's on par for the executives and on-air talent too.

If you have seen these hornets let's all hope they stay in China. They're huge, can chase you for long distances, and give you multiple stings unlike your honeybee.

People watching Fox News have come to expect the occasional geographic hilarity of this sort, so CNN thinks it has to compete.

See the FNC sample below. As one blogger put it, "It appears that, in the Fox News view of the world, Missouri conquered Arkansas, and Alabama and Mississippi either swapped spouses and houses, or are in the middle of some geographic square dance, and the satellite caught them in the middle of a do-si-do into each other’s old territory."
