GOP Sen. Kirk Open To Clean Debt Ceiling Increase

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) said he would vote for a clean debt ceiling increase proposal on Monday.

After Politico reporter Manu Raju tweeted Monday evening that Kirk supported ending debate on a clean debt limit increase and furthermore an 'aye' on the actual bill, Kirk's office confirmed the senator's position to TPM.

Kirk is the first Republican to say he would vote for both cloture on a clean debt ceiling increase and then vote for that increase. Democrats are taking steps to move forward with a clean debt limit increase bill this week.

3. Kirk is still a hypocrite

He got the best care for his stroke, which I am happy he got. But he is against the Affordable Care Act which would provide care for others who suffer and don't have medical insurance. As a Republican in a blue state, he's vulnerable.
