Glad to see the push is starting to get those over 55 and women with children into shelter for the..

winter.

Those with children will sign up to try to do the work programs, but they have to find babysitters that the programs do not help with. And with all the uncertainty with all that is going on in Washington...time will tell how it is going to work this year.

Those that are 55 and over is another story. Many of the programs here a faith based. Many of the older street people believe that God needs a big black eye. So going to faith based... no, not happening.

What needs to be is more non-religious based help. The older homeless as well as the new type of homeless that has popped up, thanks to the Republicans, are very much not into "god". And I can't blame them. I too would love to be in line to punch him in the eye right now.

It is my opinion that if we are to really help people, get "god" out of it.

They consider us "new" because we have education, clean records, no substance abuse issues, and solid work history's. We don't really fit the profiles many of the agencies help with.

Many of the agencies and faith based charities have yet to see that the old stereotypes are not a perfect fit to many of the homeless we have now.
