I like statues & art, but carving a new face into Mt Rushmore is a silly notion. In terms of relative accomplishments, I'm not even sure why we got Teddy up there.

I have had it with the deification of "leaders" that coincides with historical revisionism, a la Reagan.

I don't think any of them deserve a consideration for statues, naming of important buildings and landmarks and the like, until they've been dead 100 years. That should cure at least some of the "idolatry" in the name of ideology.

And, no, that is not "crack" against any of our recent Democratic Presidents.

tea partiers would have been up there chiseling that prez's likeness into Mt Rushmore five minutes after the news broke.
