24 MoveOn polls show GOP could lose House in wake of shutdown

http://front.moveon.org/24-moveon-polls-show-gop-could-lose-house-in-wake-of-shutdown/#.UlJVMhAujLQ

Twenty-four new surveys in GOP-held House districts, commissioned by MoveOn.org and conducted in the wake of the government shutdown, make clear that Republicans could easily lose control of the House if the next election were held today. The surveys challenge conventional wisdom that gerrymandering has put the House out of reach for Democrats and indicate the shutdown has significant electoral implications.

So there is a silver lining in the shutdown. Don't get me wrong. I want the shutdown over and the debt ceiling raised. The GOP is fucking around with dangerous shit and endangering the global economy in the interest of serving their corporate masters. But if we survive this, which admittedly is sketchy today, it could cost the GOP dearly and deservedly so.

The republicans always would want be known as conservative (even trying to bastardize the word) but in retrospect most of what they have been doing for the last thirty years has been the opposite. That little tidbit is starting to be a given. The republicans haven't been honest brokers for almost as long so as a consequence that long curve is starting to come home to roust and it won't be an easy one to shake considering how they got there. The republicans may be headed for another forty years in the wilderness, the English language may become that great honest idea of what was and we may hope
