If done correctly with consenting partners, it's usually a most pleasurable experience.
It's an absolute necessity for the continuation of human and most every other species.
So how did we come to wish that on our enemies or opponents?

(58,417 posts)In both cases, words which have positive meanings or undercurrents in real life have been turned on their heads.
Now "fuck" is a crude word but the initial primary meaning of it is of pleasure, reproduction and intimacy.
So in the vast scheme of things, is the disparaging usage of the word whether used consciously or subconciously as a slur creating an additional social dividing point that can then be taken advantage of by "We the People's" real life enemies?

(5,182 posts)so I'll leave it to others to attest to it's initial primary meaning.
I suppose analyzing the word 'liberal' could be another post.

(12,081 posts)I knew they used the word queer. Was not aware they used the other word. I've never heard that word used in a positive manner, but hey I'm not gay. I guess if you're gay you're allowed to use it. I don't know.

(47,209 posts)with that. You takes your chances, but be assured NONE of it belongs on a progressive forum.

(4,261 posts)I would have hoped that compassion and internal morality would take care of it long before "societal" restrictions were necessary.

(58,417 posts)Most likely it will be members of the opposite sex, this creates division whether intended or not and those who; would profit by taking advantage of a divided American People for profit or power, well their job becomes all the easier.

(34,845 posts)But the much preferred method. Strange that mad scientists spend their lives trying to create life when all they really need to do is bond with a member of the opposite sex.

(4,261 posts)A Low German word for grinding a mortar in a pestle ( or is it the other way round?). A most descriptive image.

(27,677 posts)The acronymic explanation of the origin of 'fuck' takes one of two paths: Fornication Under Consent of the King or For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. Dealing with the first of these, though it's pleasing to think couples looking to procreate in those Dark Old Days had to first obtain the sovereign's persmission and then post a notice of what they were up to so all the neighbors could enjoy a good snicker, a moment's thought should set that one to rest. Were the king responsible for handing out such permissions, he wouldn't have time to do anything else (or even to keep up with that one task). Likewise, though there have been times when conquering forces have engaged in rape, it wasn't by royal fiat at the behest of a king looking to further dispirit the conquered.
One last nail in the coffin of the 'fornication under consent of the king' origin comes from the word 'fornication' itself. Though many reasonably conclude fornication is the old-time word for having sex, the term specifically excludes the physical union of man and wife. One can fornicate premaritally or extramaritally, but not intramaritally. In light of this, any claim wedded couples trying to entice the stork down their chimney were granted fornication permits crashes against the rock of the wrong word being used.

(70,740 posts)* Sex is NOT BAD, so can't use the words "fuck" or "suck" or whatever.
* Religion IS bad, but what does it MEAN?!1 So what religious words are usable?!1
Bottom line, NO words can be used as cusswords. Bummer
Uncle Joe
(58,417 posts)as a slur against our enemies or opponents?
Furthermore as I posted upthread, does the using of a positive function or aspect turned negative work against the people by making the dynamic of dividing and conquering all the easier?

(30,884 posts)"Fuck" morphed from a term for sexual intercourse into a broad based curse word. We use it as an interjection ("Oh,fuck!), as an adjective ("those fucking tea baggers" and as a noun to mean something pejorative ("That Darrell Issa is a sick fuck." None of those usages have anything to do with intercourse.
IOW, we like the swear word so much that we've expanded our opportunities to use it.
eta: good ole Wiki. There's a much more articulate explanation of this there.

(82,383 posts)It has a meaning also of to cheat someone. To defraud someone.
"We're fucked," seems to mean that we are defeated. We've been taken advantage of, we've been used.

(19,429 posts)The connotation is sort of intermediate between "rape" and "make love".
Uncle Joe
(58,417 posts)is if the woman that I'm having sex with wants me to use it or she uses it in describing sex.
I have lost my temper and used it in an argument or when I'm really angry and alone but I make an effort in trying not to.
Edit for P.S. With the exception of this thread for analytical reasons.

(13,133 posts)It's used to get attention or get others to back off. It also seems people use it a lot when they get angry because while in that angry phase they are in the George Carlin lizard brain of eat, drink , fuck and sleep mode. These along with idea of defecate are the major functions while there in that mode. So it's the action word that engages and connotes doing something while giving the user it's some how conceived functional power.
It's also seems a lazy word people will use a lot when they might have a limited vocabulary and or surrounded by others with limited vocabulary. Many other ideas also i am sure, but at least off the top of my head those are mine.
