Right-wing media outlets actually seem to believe that Hanks, the star of such films as Saving Private Ryan, Toy Story, and the upcoming Captain Phillips, was being serious when he quipped to ITK that hes going to vote for President Obama a third time in 2016.
Im voting for Barack Obama, 2016, Hanks said. Yes I am. Four more years.
The actor laughingly made the comment during the Wednesday premiere of his new film at the Newseum in Washington, and right-wingers immediately began barking at the moon.
The prize for first right-wing media outlet to jump on Hanks comment goes to The Washington Times. The newspaper sounded the alarm immediately by giving a shout-out to conspiracy theorists in the very first sentence.
Conspiracy theorists, be on alert. Hollywood icon Tom Hanks may not have been joking when he said he wanted President Obama to run for a third term over the prohibitions of the Constitution, the Times wrote.
Then they tried to make their alert relevant by writing about how a Bing search on Obama seeks third term brings up 2 million hits which somehow is supposed to prove that such an idea is being widely reported. They even cite a dubious report by an investor named Porter Stansberry, who the Times admits has a past that includes convictions for swindling customers with false investment information. You know, because people trust lying investors to give the news to them straight.

(8,543 posts)... or promise not to send the ATF or the UN to confiscate all their guns...
... or agree to delay the start of the North American Union for at least one year...
... or propose to wait until after the 2014 elections to institute Sharia law nationwide...
The possibilities are too numerous to list.

(50,562 posts)The people who wrote the 22nd Amendment believed that a man would go by one name his entire life. Way too many birthers believe Obama had gone by the name Barry Soetoro in the past, so if you use the original intent of the 22nd Amendment (because they scream about "original intent" while they're screaming at you that what the Constitution says isn't necessarily what it means), then there should be no reason why Barack Obama can't be president for eight years and Barry Soetoro can't be president for another eight.*
(*I don't believe this either, but I bet if one of y'all with a Free Republic account would go over there and start a thread complaining about the Barry Soetoro 2016 campaign the resulting angstfest would crash RimJob's server.)
