by Hunter
Congratulations are in order: By a wide margin, a new Harris Poll has found perennial talk radio blowhard Rush Limbaugh to be the least liked political pundit in the nation. Out of a list of 26 news and punditry fixtures, 46 percent of all respondents picked Rush Limbaugh as their "least favorite." That's a blowhard blowout, right there.
What's more, the feeling is widespread, even among Republicans:
Limbaugh apparently has a very small base of actual supporters, but it's still plenty to keep him on the air and rolling in dough. Still, I'm sure he'll be heartbroken to learn that even Republicans aren't really that into him. Then he'll go home to his Florida mansion, or go for a ride in his private jet, or collect a few quivering apologies from a few of the topmost Republican elected officials in the nation because they dared suggest someone, somewhere not do what Rush Limbaugh told them to, and he'll get over it.

More evidence this blowhard is being propped up by the GOP establishment.

They need to show everyone who would be fooled into thinking this idiot has a huge fan base.
He's a loudmouth valued by the Republican establishment. He serves no purpose except to spew hate and ill-informed opinions.

(5,067 posts)That is why the Rethugs refuse to really call him on his filthy remarks. He is getting it out there what they want to say but it would be political suicide if they did.

(417 posts)Thats most of his listeners (and a few younger angry people). I used to take care of an elderly lady who loved Rush. She fits right in that mold. I couldn't take listenening to his crap so while she listened to Rush I had my podcast of Kieth and Rachel.
They just are mad at everything, especially the fact that there is a "black man in the White House"
I remember within a week of him getting elected she was saying he was already the worst President in history.
In ONE WEEK!!
Too much anger for me. I had to switch clients!

(81,267 posts)EXCELLENT thread here - with lots of million-dollar suggestions about how to fight back on whatever local station carries him in your area. From the perspective of one who worked in radio for years. Having done that myself, I can vouch for its accuracy.

(20,776 posts)it means more ratings for his shows.. (and hopefully it will mean less advertisers.)

(31,234 posts)our collective chains? What if we didn't react to him? We know this is his MO. Say the most outlandish things, just to get a headline. He's a bully, whose main interest is the influence he wields over a political party, and the $$$$ that comes with that influence.
I've often wondered how much we contribute to his status just by our reactions to him. He's never going away no matter how many sponsors pull out, there will be others to take their place, because there are enough Adelsons' and Kochs' who like his message, even if they don't care much for the messenger.
The only bright side is if it continues to tarnish the Republican brand, so much the better for us as a country.
