Man Who Found Boston Marathon Bomber Gets New Boat

David Henneberry's bullet-riddled boat was the centerpiece of the climactic end to the hunt for the Boston bomber.

Now, more than five months later, Henneberry recently got a new boat, thanks to donations from generous strangers across the country.

"We just recently, two weeks ago, got a used boat," Henneberry told ABCNews.com. "We did accept [the $50,000 raised] and we did also request that anything over that went to the One Fund. It just seemed right to do."

The One Fund is the organization created to help victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

He called the 24-foot boat a "fixer-upper" with the same "sparse" amenities as his previous boat.

donated the leftovers to the One Fund.

Incredibly wonderful story. Not looking to get something out of this, happy to just be back in the same
position he was before that night.

Maybe the Police did chip in some, but it sounds like it was mostly strangers not connected to the melee. I'm not fond of authorities making a mess and not cleaning it up. Reminds me of my two hour layover at the Canadian border while they ransacked my vehicle and made me clean up the mess after finding nothing.

They asked me what my business was and I told them I was going up to get some Canadian beer in the next town. They asked why I did not just go to the border store just up the road. I said I was in no hurry and wanted to drive through the countryside while I was there. I guess they though I was making a drug run or something. Real pricks. No problem coming back in to the USA.

Some wealthy collector of historical memorabilia would pay more for it than if it was brand new.
