1. right from the beginning .. but people have to occupy their lives & justify their existence somehow

2. In answer to the question, I would say

it will stop making a make a nickel's worth of difference when those people stop thinking and acting that their beliefs are the absolute truth and is used to control the actions of others by politicians to control their brain dead followers.

3. They baptize corpses?

They allegedly baptized Gandhi.

That means they went over to find his corpse and baptize him?

That must have been tough. His ashes were dumped at sea in 2008. Until then, it would mean breaking into his relatives house and what ... making a nice slurry with his ashes?

But isn't baptism both the dunking and the lifting up out of the water?

No. It's vicarious baptism. People seem to be confusing "vicarious" and "vicious."
