My extreme apologies to Noodleboy13 and anyone I offended.

One of my posts was recently blocked and I fully agree with the judgment. First, I posted a link to a video which I thought was Mayberry clean, because it was a Mayberry video! But, it goes to show you how nothing on the internet is what it seems.

My mistake was in not listening to the video more closely, and made an assumption based on my perceptions. I was listening to the video at the same time that hubby was watching t.v. His hearing is beginning to go and the t.v. is loud. In fact, he was not too happy that the sound from the laptop was interfering with what he was watching.

So I hurried through the task and didn't hear the words clearly. I just picked up pieces of what was said. I did notice that the mouth and words didn't match, but I figured that was because it was a poorly copied video. Still, I was looking for the character to turn up on the video, and when he did I just logged the time and posted the link to DU. Without realizing what I was doing, I posted someone's doctored up version of a Mayberry video and it was offensive!

I didn't intend for the video to pop up in the post, but that seems to be automatic now, so it was very in your face.

I am so sorry for the offense. I took a shortcut that I shouldn't have and paid the price

On edit: I'm posting on General Discussion because the thread was in General Discussion. But if the mods think it should be moved somewhere else, I yield to their greater knowledge.

But I think it's safe to say it was in GD last night under the title: "So I sent a man to jail last night." The details reminded me of Otis from Mayberry. I thought I remember that he voluntarily would walk into jail to sleep off his benders.

The post deserved to be hidden, clearly. It's in very poor taste and nsfw.

Save yourself a minute and don't even bother clicking the link, just take my (and the OP's) word for it.

You know, now that I think about it. Mayberry wasn't about a picture perfect world. Some of the people, like Otis, had flaws. I think what changed was civility towards one another.

that would occur when some momentous event was happening! Like when I drop my wallet on the ground and don't see, or leave my keys in the car and notice only after I've locked the door. Big crescendos, you know?

You know, like the little bits of tunes we play in our heads sometimes as something happens.

It would wonderful to have the music going during an argument with your SO, or when mad at the kids, etc.

Can't you just hear it now?

Too bad "they" can't! Then they might take their cue from the music and play a different tune. I'm so punny!

I too never knew there were lyrics to it, although many tv theme shows had lyrics written for them that were never used. I had the honor of actually getting an autograph from Don Knotts way back in '76 when he was here on the Mike Douglas Show. To this day, I'll never forget his classiness and grace to stop what he was doing to give it to me while he was preparing to leave the studio...

At 24 sec's it says "Otis Campbell, the prison bitch". Otis himself showed up at 26 seconds. The prison rape "jokes" started at 38 secs, where you told us to skip to.

" I was looking for the character to turn up on the video, and when he did I just logged the time and posted the link to DU."
Looking at the video, Otis turned up at 26 secs, the offensive part started where you told us to skip to.

Please clarify as I don't see this apology as true. Thank you.

I remember wondering if the video was a montage of scenes, or if it was a solid scene. I also remember looking up and dealing with my husband's scowl because he was annoyed by the interruption. I may have looked up momentarily and missed Otis, or didn't think he was on long enough for someone to recognize him.

Look, you have every right to be skeptical. Mea Culpa. This couldn't be the furthest place from where I wish I was right now.

I tend to post in a coffee shop, so I don't want to disturb others. I must say I was startled to see my name in a post; I thought I had done something wrong.

Apology accepted.
But for penance you must go through the day with the whistling theme of the "Andy Griffin Show" stuck in your head.

peace,
Noodleboy
