They should focus on being patrons of the arts and stay out of politics. They were pretty good at the patron stuff. They are screwing up the political arena badly and aren't getting much for their money.

At least with the arts they have something to show for their money.

The John Birch Society never died, it just went underground and re-emerged as the Tea Party. I have got to read "Wrapped in the Flag" by Clair Conner, who was raised by parents active in the Society and managed to extricate herself.

The John Birchers have taken over the house. As a kid growing up my dad refused to buy welch's grape juice for me because welch was a John Bircher, the Koch' father was their big funder. To this day I will never drink welch's grape juice.
