Let's start our DU demands to restart the government.

In the spirit of this thread,

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023776351

I figured we could create a nice list of counter offers to present to the House.

According to the above thread we already have:

1. Clean bill to fund the government
2. Approval of all Judicial Nominees.
3. Statehood for D.C.
4. a new bill of Elizabeth Warren's choosing
5. Really strong controls on financial markets

Everyone post up one item to bring to the table.

I'll go with eliminate
6. Eliminate Bush Era Tax Cuts

Anyone else?

If our starting point is a clean bill, we have to delay Obamacare.

hint: it's not a serious thread. Have some fun.

shutting down the government as each party haggles over its individual pets policies but must come together to fund at least the barest minimum governmental functions, i.e. police and military.

And just how does this defeat the TP?

as far as funding to just above the Ryan budget. Yep the President and Democrats gave in to that. But you don't hear anyone talking about it. Funding is cut across the board with the TP's special favorites like the EPA targeted for deep cuts.
No one is talking about that.

Yeah, yeah, I know.

Since I'm going full-blow idealist, let's add;

Cradle to grave taxpayer funded education; to include all education, i.e., the trades, the arts, and the whole shebang.
Cradle to grave taxpayer funded healthcare; to include, eyes, teeth, and mental health care since I swear those are all part of the human body.
Nationalized science research to be kept out of hands of profiteers and political opportunists.

Which do you think is a stronger, safer, nation? One with a healthy, happy, educated populace or one with poverty, illiteracy, and lies coming from "experts."

Oh, one more; corporate/trust entities must reapply for corporate status every x number of years and must prove their value to their community; no more forming "in perpetuity" and taking taxpayer monies for their own personal benefit. I believe historically it was 20 years.

22. Thanks. I think that last about corporations

was once a policy in newly forming states here in what is now the US. Trusts, as they were called back then, formed to take on projects too large for a single concern, whether private or government. Then they were dissolved. I think the Erie Canal was one such project.

My other two ideas, not listed in the above include, cure poverty and wage peace. Those two I think might be byproducts of a well educated, safe, and healthy populace.

By wage peace I mean far more than just anti-war. I mean the peace that comes from not being worried about a child being killed by a stray bullet, by schools not being metal-detector surrounded prisons, neighborhoods not subjected to gangs brutalizing the people, the idea of a ghetto becoming an anachronistic concept from a barbarian past, and so on and so on.

Warned ya. Full blown idealist.

I feel like a much smaller, more female version of Sisyphus. *sigh*

I'm too far to the left and my ideas scare the shit out of people who love money and stature and need to not just keep up with the Jones but pass them on the right doing 80mph.
